Rekindling the Spark

Rekindling the Spark of Your Relationship

  • Are you entering Retirement and wanting to Revitalise your relationship?
  • Do you feel more like Housemates than Lovers?
  • After the early months or years of parenting are you wanting to enliven the desire between you as a couple?

Rekindling the Spark: Familiarity and Security v. Novelty and Excitement

Whatever the stage you are at in your relationship it can be quite an art keeping the chemistry alive over time. Whether it’s overly familiar domestic routines, stresses of work or parenting and lack of sleep; feeling desire, romance or a sense of adventure together can seem hard to sustain in long term relationships.

We can create stability and security, become over predictable and familiar together and then wonder where the mystery and excitement has gone.

At times of transition this wondering can be heightened, such as when children have grown up and left home and it’s just the two of you again. When a woman moves into menopause or there’s a mid-life crisis that shakes self-confidence and identity, it can raise questions about the quality of relationship.

How Couples Therapy Can Help?

If you are both willing to work on your relationship, then couples therapy can help. Sometimes there are old hurts and resentments that haven’t been resolved and the sessions can help you process these and allow for a clearer, more loving connection between you. And sometimes it’s just ‘life’, mundane routine and stresses that have taken over the relationship.

I offer a supportive and non-judgemental space for you to explore what it is that has been getting in the way of having more vibrancy in your relationship.

We would then work on finding ways, at your own pace, to cultivate the spark between you.

Fostering this spark in long term relationships is both an art form enriched by the poetics of sex, sensuality, and joie de vivre and it can flourish with some simple practical steps too!
